This pendant was meticulously drilled and cut by hand from an actual New Zealand 10 cent coin. It features a traditional Maori Koruru mask.
The Koruru is a mask that would be mounted on the gable of a meeting house. In Maori culture, certain structures symbolized the body of a revered ancestor. The Koruru would be carved to represent the face of the associated ancestor.
This coin is 23.62 mm and is silver in color. It comes on a strong and hypoallergenic 20" stainless steel chain. Other chain or cord options are possible upon request.
