Meticulously drilled and cut by hand from an actual German 50 pfennig coin. It features a woman planting an oak tree.

The imagery on this coin was created to symbolize the rebirth of Germany after the conclusion of WW2. The oak tree has a long history as an important symbol to the German People. The choice to include an oak sapling being planted was specifically intended to invoke the concept of hope and rebirth. The woman is clothed in an outfit typical of the woman who were known as "rubble women" and were employed to clear cities of the rubble left from the destruction of the war. They became a symbol of post-war reconstruction. The designer of the coin used his pregnant wife as a model, further symbolizing the rebirth of the nation.
